A Colorado volleyball team took a big swing to get Selena Gomez to come to their game and surprisingly, it worked.
The singer and Only Murders in the Building actor shared a series of photos on Saturday, August 31, showing her visiting a local Telluride high school's volleyball team to sing the national anthem. Gomez was in the Colorado town promoting her forthcoming film Emilia Pérez at the Telluride Film Festival when she — or someone on her team — saw a sign that had her name on it.
“Selena Gomez please sing the National Anthem @ one of home games,” the bright orange sign read. “THS volleyball team.” The team also included an email to contact the coach, and Gomez apparently obliged.
“They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride," Gomez wrote on Instagram.

In the photos, Gomez is shown walking into the gym with a group of volleyball players who are all stunned and laughing as she says, “I saw the sign!” Gomez did not share actual footage of her singing the national anthem, so it's unclear if she did, but the actor did pose for photos with the team and signed autographs.
Several comments under the Instagram post called Gomez “the people's princess.”
Celebrities including Emilia Pérez co-star Zoe Saldaña commented, “The kindest heart indeed.” While Ashley Park wrote, “This is so sweet ❤️.” Gomez's boyfriend Benny Blanco commented on the post with heart-eye emojis and hearts.
While sharing her experience with the local volleyball team, Selena Gomez also shared a sweet video on her Instagram Story of her and Blanco having a sweet moment. Blanco is shown kissing her on the cheek repeatedly. It's not clear whether Blanco was in Telluride with Gomez, who was promoting the new Netflix musical crime comedy based on an opera. The film will be in select theaters until it streams on Netflix on November 13.
