Snoop Dogg's Daughter Cori Broadus Said She Had a “Severe” Stroke

Snoop Dogg's daughter Cori Broadus said she had a “severe” stroke in an Instagram story on January 18.

USA Today reports that 24-year-old Broadus "started breaking down crying" when doctors told her she had a stroke on Thursday morning, wondering "what did I do in my past to deserve all of this." On Friday, Broadus posted photos of her smiling in a hospital bed, alongside flowers sent from loved ones.

It's not clear what exactly Broadus experienced or what her condition is now, but according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stroke symptoms can include sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg (particularly on one side); confusion and trouble speaking or understanding others; trouble seeing; and sudden and severe headache without a known cause. According to the CDC, stroke treatment works best in the three hours after the first symptom, so moving quickly to access care when you recognize these symptoms is crucial.

While most strokes happen in people over age 50, incidences of stroke among young people are rising, according to Stamford Health. Anyone can experience a stroke, and symptoms can be similar regardless of age.

Broadus has been open about her health struggles in the past. She's spoken about being diagnosed with lupus at age six and struggling with the condition.

“I really didn't even know what was happening to me,” Broadus told Teen Vogue in a 2023 interview. “I just felt sick. I felt tired… I was looking at my brothers, I was looking at my family members. I'm like, why am I the only one that looks like this? Why am I the only one that feels like this?... Being sick as a kid is a lot. Being sick, in general, is a lot. But as a kid, you don't even know what's going on. You're just taking it day by day.”

In an interview with People later last year, Broadus said she felt “better than [she's] ever been," noting that she'd been exercising and taking steps to improve her mental and physical wellbeing.
