For Starbucks regulars, the most magical time of the year is now upon us: The beloved coffee chain's holiday menu is officially in full swing. It's a time of joy that we enter into with wide-eyed enthusiasm for Peppermint Mochas, that chill in the air, and holiday music that we will soon tire of. Now also happens to be the time that Starbucks debuted a new, green cup — and there's a vocal few who are not happy with it.
The cup was introduced by Starbucks as "a symbol of unity" and a "reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other" during "a divisive time in our country," as CEO and Chairman Howard Schultz said in a press release, but it quickly morphed into the opposite. Instead, some people — who mistakenly thought the green cup was Starbucks' holiday cup (which, if leaked photos are correct, will be red this year) thanks to a few sarcastic tweeters — started calling out the company.
"RT if you think @Starbucks is trying to take Jesus out of Christmas with the new cup. Make this go viral so Starbucks makes cups red again," tweeted one user, creating a domino effect of outrage before admitting she was just kidding.

And those who couldn't muster any outrage...

The fake outrage and real outrage over these disposable cups — which doesn't make any more sense when you repeat that out loud — won't last much longer though because Starbucks took the opportunity to reveal that its "holiday plans are still underwraps" and fans should "stay tuned."
