2004

In the fall of 1994, while my junior-high classmates were crushing on the likes of Alicia Silverstone and Christina Applegate, I fell head over heels for Natalie Portman after catching her breakout performance in The Professional. With her face plastered on my bulletin board, my love for the budding ingenue endured endless (blush-inducing) teasing from my older brothers, and it became a family joke that one day we would be married.

In 1947, Christian Dior said that he wanted a "fragrance that smells like love" and conceived Miss Dior as the brand’s manifesto for youth and sophistication. Today the prolific fashion house sets out to encapsulate that same French joie de vivre in its latest scent, Miss Dior Cherie, with my onetime girl crush as its new face.

I met Natalie for our first "date" just days after the New York premiere of the epic psychological thriller Black Swan, her most captivating film yet.

"It was an honor to be approached by a brand that has not only an incredible history but also values I can really stand behind," says the actress before we lunch at Daniel on New York City’s Upper East Side. "I went to great lengths to ensure the company is run ethically and that there isn’t any animal testing or forest depletion."
