An attack in Stockholm today has left two dead and more injured, though exact numbers are unknown, according to news reports. According to CNN, a truck drove through crowds in a busy shopping area in Stockholm, Sweden, before crashing into a store. Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven told reporters that the country "has been attacked. Everything indicates an act of terror," The Local Sweden reports.
The incident occurred at a Ahlens store in Drottninggatan, and police are investigating a "person of interest," CNN reported. USA Today notes that Swedish paper Aftonbladet reported that the truck, which belonged to a Swedish brewery company, had been hijacked earlier in the day.
Swedish security police Säpo said "large number of people are injured," The Local Sweden reports. They added: "Intensive intelligence work is being conducted in order to identify the person or persons behind the attack."
This is the latest in a series of terror attacks using vehicles. Four victims were killed and 50 others injured in a London terror attack last month, after 52-year-old Khalid Masood drove into crowds of people on the Westminster Bridge with his car and then stabbed and killed a police officer. Last year, a man driving a large truck plowed through crowds of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France, killing 84.
