If you need proof that you should never underestimate the power of beauty, Sydney Sweeney has just revealed a costume choice that almost caused an on-set disaster while filming Madame Web.

ICYMI: Sydney Sweeney stars in Madame Web, the latest addition to Sony's Spider-Man Universe, alongside Dakota Johnson, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor. The Euphoria star plays Julia Cornwall in the film, a character based on comic book Julia Carpenter, who's known for her strawberry blonde hair.

To commit to her character's aesthetic, Sweeney wore a strawberry blonde wig throughout the filming of Madame Web. The only problem? Filming began in mid-July (i.e., the height of summer), and the wig wasn't as harmless as one might assume.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, Sweeney admitted she wore the wig every single day of filming, which meant her getting ready time was the longest. She also admitted that one day, the wig caused her to overheat and throw up, which halted the filming of Madame Web temporarily.

"That wig was so hot we were filming in Boston in the middle of the summer," Sweeny told the publication. "It was one of the hottest days, and we were in the middle of filming, and I go, 'One second,' and I turn around, and I just started throwing up, and then I turn back, and I go, 'We're all good we can keep going.' I was overheating, my body was shutting down, but I was great. The wig added a lot of interesting elements."

Though Sweeney was ready to keep going, the cast and crew decided to take a breather to tend to her needs because safety always comes first. "We were like, 'No, we're not just going to roll right now, but you were ready to rock and roll," O'Connor, who plays Mattie Franklin, revealed. "Somehow, she made throwing up professional," Merced added.

The wig incident is the latest addition to a growing list of on-set mishaps from Sweeney. Last year, Sweeney also revealed she was bit by a spider while filming Anyone But You in Australia, which only her co-star Glen Powell noticed.

"The spider actually bit me in the middle of this scene, but nobody called cut because they thought I was just making a very dramatic, interesting choice in this scene, and Glen was the only one who finally caught on," Sweeney said at the time.

This is also famously not Sweeney's first rodeo dealing with a bit of vomit on set. Back in 2022, the star opened up about filming the now-infamous Euphoria season 2 bathtub scene, admitting "she was really grossed out" about it all — though thankfully, this one was all fake.
