Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI have been slowly but surely becoming one of our favorite couples… but could they have broken up?
Ever since the beginning of 2024, the Australian and Canadian stars have been sparking dating rumors after being spotted together (and holding hands) multiple times. LAROI seemed to give fans the confirmation they were waiting for during one of his The First Time tour stops, and since then, the cute couple moments have been consistent… until now.
Prior to being romantically linked, McRae was in a relationship with fellow Canadian ice hockey player Cole Sillinger. The pair went Instagram official in 2022 and seemingly called it quits in early 2023, with McRae deleting all their pictures together from her social media. LAROI, on the other hand, famously dated TikTok star Katarina Deme since 2020 before wiping all traces of her on his social media in the summer of 2023.

July 25, 2025: The Kid LAROI seemingly confirms Tate McRae breakup
After much speculation, The Kid LAROI seemingly confirmed his breakup from Tate McRae in response to a fan tweet on X. The star replied to a post claiming his team was paying to “slander” McRae online. “I have NOTHING to do with this, and I DO NOT cosign this behavior whatsoever. working to get these removed," the singer replied to the post, including a screenshot of a private conversation with his team.
The screenshot included a message from LAROI saying, “Tate and I are on good terms.” Though it is not explicit confirmation, fans interpreted this as confirmation that the two had put an end to their romantic relationship.

Early July 2025: Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI spark breakup rumors
Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI have been making the breakup rumor mill churn. Much of the breakup speculation is being fueled by popular celeb gossip site DeuxMoi, who claim The Kid LAROI was spotted with another woman in LA, reportedly holding hands.
News of the supposed sighting comes as Tate McRae, who had just wrapped the European leg of her tour days prior, was photographed celebrating during her birthday weekend without the Australian singer. McRae was pictured in Saint-Tropez celebrating her 22nd birthday on a yacht with friends and a man many have IDed as her bodyguard.
Breakup rumors came after months of not being seen together; however, take everything with a grain of salt, as the two have had packed schedules, and oftentimes gossip is unfounded.
Many fans have pointed out that The Kid LAROI did, in fact, drop a like on Tate McRae's Instagram post in honor of her 22nd birthday, which was posted on July 2, 2025, and could signify things are still okay between the two.
McRae's last interaction on LAROI's account, however, dates back to their May trip to Paris. The star both liked and left a comment on his photo dump from their romantic getaway, which featured photos of the two at The French Open.
June 5, 2025: The Kid LAROI praises Tate McRae for her work ethic and smile in a new interview
In an interview with Elle Magazine published in early June, The Kid LAROI offered a rare glimpse into his relationship with Tate McRae and also took the time to praise her for her work ethic.
“She’s the hardest working artist I’ve ever met in my entire life. And I don’t say that because she’s my girlfriend," he said about McRae. “Seeing how hard she works inspires and encourages me to follow along and do the same. There’s something really, really motivating about that — and really attractive as well.”
When asked if there was something McRae did that made him “melt,” LAROI did not hesitate to add: “That’s easy. Every time she smiles, it makes me weak.”
Elsewhere in the interview, he also opened up about their couple dynamics, sharing that he loves to cook for the two and that they are “homebodies.” He added: “Sometimes it’s nice to go out and do stuff like that, but most times, we’ll just be like, ‘Yo, should we go out for dinner? Let’s just order something. Let’s make something. Let’s watch something.’ The new Black Mirror just came out, so we’ve been watching that. The new Love on the Spectrum. That’s one of the best shows ever — Connor is, like, my favorite person of all time.”
Judging by his last answer, it looks like the interview must have taken place sometime in April 2025.
May 26, 2025: The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae enjoy a romantic day in Paris after the French Open
Paris is the city of love, and it lived up to its name for The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae in May. The pair was in town for the French Open and photographed enjoying a game together. However, they also made the most of their time in the French capital by heading out to dinner with a view of the Eiffel Tower together. Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI were spotted enjoying the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, together and looking super lovey-dovey as they walked around the festival grounds hand in hand.
March 2, 2025: The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae attend the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party together
All the stars flocked to LA for the 2025 Oscars, and The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae were no exception. The couple graced the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2025 together and were also seen sharing some sweet kisses inside. The two were also photographed alongside Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge during the event.
February 20, 2025: Tate McRae opens up about collaborating with The Kid LAROI on her new album So Close to What
Tate McRae released her third studio album, So Close to What, on Friday, February 21, and kicked off the launch with a special listening party in partnership with Spotify. The Kid LAROI is featured on the ninth track on the album titled “I Know Love.” During the Q&A portion of the listening party, McRae joked about the fact that she and LAROI had never “seriously” collaborated, and shared that when it came down to really making music together, it was a “little stressful.”
“It was a really funny process, because me and LAROI have never really, like, taken each other seriously,” McRae said, per Billboard. “You know when you’re in a relationship and you sing around each other, but you don’t really, like, sing? So it was a little stressful being in the studio singing and writing in front of him, but it was a cool experience to watch him in his process.”
In “I Know Love,” the couple shares verses that will give you butterflies: “We started off friends / how you end up here? / Next to me? (Honestly, this sh*t is crazy) / I said ‘You my type,’ out in Mexico tonight / You said it was gon' be quick, now we're twelve months in.”
In the lead-up to the album's release, Tate McRae told Apple Music's Zane Lowe that she and LAROI have now written two songs together and called the creative collaboration aspect of their relationship “really fresh.”
“We've never sung in front of each other until August. I pulled him out for one of my shows. And it was so funny, we're sitting in soundcheck and neither of us wanted to start singing," she said, adding that she “wouldn't look at him" while singing.
“It's like a mental thing where I just feel like he's never heard me sing, and I like to pretend that he doesn't know I'm a singer, but he does obviously know I'm a singer,” she gushed. “Doing the soundcheck is so nervous, and same with writing in the studio. We were just like, ‘Are you going to listen?’ And he's like, ‘Yeah.’ But it was funny. It was wholesome. It was cute, but it was definitely nerve-wracking for both of us, who are usually so in our element and so controlling in the rooms. We both were like, 'Okay, who's going to lead the room?'… We just try to not talk about work as much as possible, but it is hard when the conversation always leads back there.”

To ring in 2025, it looks like Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI decided to link up with some friends, including fellow couple Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge, and jet off to the Caribbean for a dreamy tropical vacation. In a carousel posted by McRae, you could see the two couples and fellow friends enjoying the warm weather and the beach.
LAROI posted even more pics from the vacation, including a couple of sweet moments shared with McRae, including some acroyoga on the beach. The post has since been deleted.

When in NYC, the couple just can't resist a hand-in-hand city stroll, and they did just so post VMAs.
September 11, 2024: Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI pack on the PDA at the 2024 VMAs
Tate McRae made a statement at the 2024 VMAs red carpet, paying homage to one of Britney Spears's iconic looks from the famed show. And though she might have walked the red carpet alone, she kept good company during the show. Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI went heavy on the PDA — though not of the kissing type, at least not that type of kissing — at the 2024 VMAs. The duo was photographed in the stands together, holding hands and sharing sweet forehead kisses while watching the performers and backstage.
After the show, the couple was also seen in NYC's Greenwich Village holding hands. While The Kid LAROI was wearing the same 'fit from the VMAs (minus a few layers), McRae, who just put out her single “It’s ok I’m ok," changed into a different mini dress.
September 1, 2024: The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae vacation together in Bora Bora
The couple jetted off to what appeared to be their first holiday together shortly after their respective 21st birthdays. LAROI posted a since-deleted recap of their trip to his Instagram, writing: “Rare Instagram post life update.” The carousel included a picture of the couple jet skiing together.
August 22, 2024: The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae are spotted on a night out together after singing a duet together at MSG
After a few months of being on their respective tours and space sightings, the couple was spotted on a night out together around NYC's NoHo, looking smitten and seemingly confirming their relationship status once more. Earlier that day, the two also performed “Without You” together at MSG during McRae's sold-out show.
August 17, 2024: Tate McRae shares birthday tribute for The Kid LAROI with a sweet video
Tate McRae celebrated LAROI's 21st birthday, posting a video of the two to her Instagram. In the clip, the duo could be seen dancing around and sharing a little kiss while backstage at a concert venue. “I love you soooooo much <3 so grateful for u,” McRae wrote on top of the video.

The Kid LAROI seemed to make things official with Tate McRae during a show in Dublin in the middle of the European leg of his The First Time tour. On April 14, the “Stay" singer addressed the crowd, saying: “I need everybody in here to sing this as loud as they can because my girlfriend’s here tonight, and I don’t want to look lame.”
Of course, this could mean anyone, but thankfully, cameras panned out to capture McRae watching the show from the sides of the stage. In case there were any doubts, the “Greedy” singer was indeed in attendance, she herself made them all disappear by posting a handful of stories of her POV while at the concert. She also took the time to take some selfies with fans while at the venue.
While LAROI was then off to continue his European tour, which wrapped up on April 27, McRae was gearing up to start her own world tour, Think Later, on April 17 in — would you guess it — Dublin, Ireland.

It looks like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were not the only lovebirds in town for the Super Bowl. Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI were spotted spending time together in Las Vegas for the big game. Fans were quick to catch a paparazzi video of the two holding hands, and then Justin Bieber also shared a picture to social media featuring his wife, Hailey, as well as LAROI and McRae snapped at the Fanatics Super Bowl LVIII party.

After McRae posted her photo dump, LAROI snuck into the comment section to leave a “😎” emoji, which made fans speculate even further. “Isn't that shirt yours??👀” a fan commented under LAROI's emoji. Neither McRae nor LAROI addressed the rumors at the time.
