Back in August, Taylor Swift gave her first interview in almost two years on Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast — and wow, did we learn a lot, including news of her forthcoming album The Life of a Showgirl. (And some of the fan theories were on to something.)
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast posted a teaser of their next guest, and fans clocked that silhouette immediately. Around that time, the Taylor Nation official fan account — which, admittedly, is not always a reliable source for Easter eggs — posted a tweet that read, “Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…'” alongside a photo of Swift in orange during the Eras Tour.

Later that night, New Heights confirmed it with a snippet of Swift in the chair next to Travis. They shared a quick, cute exchange: “Such a nice color on you,” Swift says, seemingly in reference to the blue of his hoodie. “It's the color of your eyes, sweetie. It's why we match so well," Travis responds. Swift then giggles, “We're about to do a f*cking podcast!” Even she can't seem to believe it.

But by the time the New Heights teaser dropped, even bigger news had kicked up. Swift’s website had started a countdown to 12:12 on August 12, and suddenly, we all knew what was happening. It had to be an album. And of course, the revelations have not stopped there. I mean, we even have a full-on release party hitting cinemas!

Have any Life of a Showgirl lyrics come out? What's up with the Spotify activation?
On Sept. 30, Spotify launched its New York City activation for The Life of a Showgirl, a fully showgirl-themed fan walkthrough experience with photo opps, easter eggs, and cool wardrobe details.
The Spotify activation included some unreleased lyrics from the album, too. “Oftentimes it doesn't feel so glamorous to be me,” read the first lyrics, written in lipstick on one of three mirror vanities inside the activation. The lyrics also ran up a billboard in Times Square.
Fans clocked other potential easter eggs, too: a “Happy Valentine's Day” card tucked into the mirror, the orange “Karma” door, and more. Plus other potential lyrics on a megaphone ("I heard you calling") and a hand mirror ("Keep it 100").
What did Taylor Swift say about The Life of a Showgirl on the New Heights podcast?
On the podcast, Taylor Swift talked about when she started making The Life of a Showgirl — during the Eras Tour, of course. “It was something I was working on while I was in Europe on the Eras tour,” she told Travis and Jason Kelce. Travis said, "How on Earth did she do this on the tour is still blowing my mind.”
Swift responded, “I just love it, I love it a lot. I love music. I would be doing shows in row, I'd have 3 days off. I’d fly to Sweden and go back to the tour. I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour. But I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.” As Travis summed up: “And literally living the life of a showgirl while she wrote it.”
Swift also read out the tracklist and shared more info about what the album will feel like. “I'm so proud of it. And it just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life. Yeah. And so that effervescence has come through on this record.” Travis added, “It’s a lot more upbeat, fun pop. A complete 180 from songs on Tortured Poets.”
What’s the color scheme for The Life of a Showgirl?
Orange, of course. However, mint green also seems likely, given that Jason specifically called it out in the clip as the color of the briefcase.
What does the color orange symbolize in The Life of a Showgirl?
So what does orange mean? Well, if you're a Tennessee fan, go Vols. But in the more Swiftian sense, orange is a clear callback to what many fans consider the “lost album,” Karma. The theory goes deep, but basically argues that Swift was supposed to put out an album in 2016 but killed it after the Kardashian-West drama cycle spun her into cancellation territory. The song “Karma” on Midnights was also thought to be an echo of the record, and it is possible that she's been thinking of this concept for years.
Fans also think of orange as the color of the burning Lover house on the Eras Tour, which represented the end of a relationship as well as the decimation of a past version of herself. At the end of the Eras Tour, she also walked through an orange door when leaving the stage.
When Taylor Nation teased this next era on Instagram, the carousel included exactly 12 photos of Swift performing onstage during the Eras Tour, all in orange outfits. (Eagle-eyed fans also pointed out that a year ago, on August 12, 2024, Swift was seen out and about in a matching mint-and-orange plaid set.)
Meanwhile, orange is symbolic in a larger way, too. It's a polarizing color, one that can bring up images of sunsets or blazing fire or autumn leaves or Halloween or prison jumpsuits (like the one Swift wears in the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video). It can mean different things to different cultures.
Verywell notes that the hue can be associated with “meditation and compassion," but the color orange can also represent energy, excitement, adventure, and optimism. (Plus, what do you get when you mix burning red with golden-like-daylight yellow? We love color theory.) Similarly, the mint green of it all can inspire its own theories: mint green can symbolize new beginnings, tranquility, good luck, creativity, and wellness.
Is Swift working with Jack Antonoff on The Life of a Showgirl? What about Max Martin and Shellback?
Taylor Swift is not working with Jack Antonoff on The Life of a Showgirl. But Max Martin and Shellback, the iconic pop production duo, are the primary producers on The Life of a Showgirl alongside Swift herself, she announced on August 13.
The Spotify activation featured an exclusive clip where Swift talked about how the Stockholm, Sweden, Eras Tour shows were a bid to work with the duo again.

The clues were there: PopBase noted that Swift created a Spotify playlist comprised solely of songs made out of their collaborations, titled, “And, baby, that's show business for you ❤️🔥.”
That news is exciting on a number of levels. The duo have worked with Swift on some of her biggest pop hits ("22," “Bad Blood,” "Blank Space," “Style," “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" — the list goes on), the kinds of anthems that worked particularly well on the Eras Tour, and they haven't linked up since reputation in 2017. As fruitful as Swift's work with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff has been over the past several years, it's also a great time for Swift to switch things up. New promotional platform, new vibe, new sound. Swift may feel conflicted about the never-ending pop girl reinvention machine, but she's just so good at it.
