Taylor Swift has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election, ending weeks of speculation on whether the singer would weigh in on the race, and following a 2020 endorsement of President Joe Biden.
Swift posted her endorsement to Instagram following the first debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump, writing “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

Along with the caption, Swift posted a photo of herself and her cat, in a pointed reference to Trump’s running mate JD Vance’s comments about “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
Last month, Trump shared a fake AI-generated “endorsement” of his campaign by Swift. In her caption, Swift addressed the controversy, saying it “really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift’s fans had recently expressed frustration with the pop icon for her silence on the 2024 election, especially after she was spotted hugging alleged Trump supporter Brittany Mahomes, at the U.S. Open.
As Teen Vogue reported, “Swifties for Kamala” raised over $122,000 for the Democratic nominee at a recent fundraising call that featured guests like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT), and music legend Carole King. "We've had no doubt that Taylor would endorse at the right time," the coalition said on Tuesday night.
