There was a surprise live performance during the Glendale, Arizona leg of Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour — and while it was far from a #squad member jumping onstage during “Style,” it was more emotional than anybody had expected. She sang an especially sweet rendition of “Ronan,” a song she’d only performed live once before at 2012’s Stand Up to Cancer benefit.
Here she is talking about the origin of the track:

Taylor penned "Ronan" in 2011 after discovering the blog of Maya Thompson, an Arizona woman whose 4-year-old son, Ronan, battled neuroblastoma for nine months before passing away. Since Maya was in the audience last night, Taylor added the special song to her setlist — much to the young mom's surprise.

Adorably, Ronan's little sister Pearl was there too, because you're never too young to be a Swiftie.

If her mission is to make every stop on tour even more memorable than the last, Taylor Swift has once again topped herself.
