Much has been made of the Taylor Swift Effect on the NFL thanks to the pop star’s association with tight end Travis Kelce. Sales of his jersey are up, for instance. But is Travis having an effect on Tay’s style?
Swift, though not averse to jeans and a tank on a summer day, for example, is usually one to look Dressed to Impress at all times. But stepping out in New York City on October 3, the “I Forgot That You Existed” singer wore a graphic tee and…bike shorts.
Bike shorts! Not to say she doesn’t look cute, but this is way more comfy than the usual Swift lewk. I don’t remember seeing Blondie dressed this caszh since the heyday of athleisure. Her gym era, if you will. And that was in 2016!
Has maybe-dating an athlete relaxed her?
Okay, we’re all Swifties here (at least, I am), so let’s do what we do best and analyzing the ever-living swift out of this latest appearance.
Footwear: Ganni x New Balance sneakers and green socks. It’s giving Green Bay Packers, it’s neither Midnights nor 1989…not picking up on anything here.
Shorts: As I said, this is newsworthy!! Princess Diana–coded.
Louis Vuitton bag: She’s been carrying this a lot lately, and I’m pretty sure LV sent one to like half the starlets in Hollywood. Sophie Turner has one, Blake Lively has one…there is no deeper meaning.
Shirt: OKAY, SHIRT ALERT! Though it may look like a thrift store find, this is actually for sale right now at Free People. On the front is Shania Twain, a longtime hero of Swift’s (they’re mutual fans) and the title of her song “Any Man of Mine.” So yes, there’s a Swelce message here:
Any man of mine better walk the line,
Better show me a teasin’, squeezin’, pleasin’ kinda time.
I need a man who knows how the story goes.
He’s gotta be a heartbeatin’, fine treatin’, breathtakin’, earthquakin’ kind

Hat and sunglasses: New York-y. And thank God someone finally took the hair straightener away! Look at those waves!
The other thing to note is Swift’s choice of companion: Keleigh Sperry, wife of Miles Teller. The couple costarred with Swift in the Blake Lively–directed video for “I Bet You Think About Me,” so not an unexpected friend to pal around with, but make of it what you will. Sperry and Teller are buds with Shailene Woodley, who was famously engaged to football boi Aaron Rodgers, so maybe she’s asking for advice on how to deal with all that?
Final observation: She wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts…she wears high heels, I wear sneakers. Is Taylor Swift saying that Travis belongs with her?
