Barely a week after the 2025 Grammy nominations were announced, Taylor Swift is getting candid about her six nods.
In case you have not had a chance to pour over the nominations yet, Swift's latest project, The Tortured Poets Department, is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Music Video, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and last but not least, Album of the Year, making Swift the first woman ever to receive seven nominations in this last category.
On November 14, Swift took the chance to open up about her feelings regarding her 2025 Grammy nominations while addressing the crowd at the Rogers Centre stadium in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she performed one of her last Eras Tour concerts.
As seen in fan footage from the concert, Swift thanked fans for supporting the release of TTPD. "You guys did something so amazing over the course of the last few months. I just mean what you did with embracing Tortured Poets Department, the album," she told fans.
Swift admitted the process of building the album was "really emotional" for her. "I wrote during the Eras Tour — I wrote that album, made that album, all [while] trying to keep it a secret from you guys — and then announced the album, and then we basically were working really hard to secretly put together a new chapter in the Eras Tour of The Tortured Poets Department," she explained.
She added that all while working on the little pieces of the puzzle, what she and her team wanted was to surprise fans, which they did, but fans also surprised her in return. "You guys have been so wonderful about digging into the album and understanding where I was coming from with it, and you made it by far the biggest debut I think I've ever had. And you kept that album at number one for nearly four months," she added.
"And the most recent thing that you did, because everything that happens is a direct reflection of the passion that you show, is you guys got this album nominated for six Grammys," Swift continued. "It's so unbelievable, so thank you."
Swift ended her Grammys speech and then went on to play "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" off the album, which was not so coincidentally announced at the 2024 Grammys ceremony.
The 2025 Grammys will take place on February 2, 2025, so we can expect Swift to grace the stage then, perhaps with even more surprises, but before that, she'll be wrapping up her Eras Tour on December 8 after three consecutive shows in Vancouver.
