Ted Cruz declined to endorse Donald Trump for president tonight during a speech at the Republican National Convention. The runner-up in the race for the Republican presidential nomination even went so far as to tell the audience and viewers at home to "vote your conscience." The result? He was practically booed off the stage.
The Texas senator's appearance this evening came as a surprise to some after the two men left the race on unfriendly terms. While they started out friendly, bad blood quickly emerged as it became apparent that the two were the only viable candidates. Nasty words were exchanged — "lyin' Ted" — and Trump even tweeted a photo of their wives side by side. The Republican nominee also told voters that Cruz wasn't eligible to become president as he was born in Canada. (This point was debated by experts, but as Cruz's mother is an American citizen, the senator is automatically considered one too.)

Naturally, Twitter was having a field day after Ted Cruz's speech. From Melania Trump's plagiarism to the intense dislike for opponent Hillary Clinton, this convention has been very unconventional.
