If you have been waiting to get a glimpse at The Idea of You ever since Prime Video announced Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine would be taking on the leading roles back in 2022, you're in luck. We have just gotten our first trailer for the movie, and we are in for a wild — and steamy — ride.
Based on Robinne Lee's best-selling debut novel of the same name, The Idea of You follows the story of a 40-year-old single mom named Solène (played by Anne Hathaway), who strikes up a romance with 24-year-old British superstar Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of the world's most in-demand boy band August Moon.

The first trailer for The Idea of You gives us a peek into the genesis of Solène and Hayes's romance, showing their backstage meet-cute at Coachella, which is, you know, a super casual superstar setting.
Thanks to the film's official synopsis, we know Solène has made her way to the famed music festival, where Hayes and his bandmates are headlining, as a chaperone for her 16-year-old daughter Izzy after her ex-husband bails at the last minute and, would you look at that, Izzy just so happens to be a huge August Moon fan.
If you've been a fan of Nicholas Galitzine for a while, then you've probably already seen his great singing chops via the multiple covers he has uploaded to the wonderful internet, but The Idea of You really takes it to the next level. In the trailer, we see Galitzine in full popstar mode as Hayes Campbell, which, of course, includes a single hoop earring and multiple sticker tattoos dotted all over his arms.
Superstar characterization aside, thankfully for us, it looks like Galitzine's singing will take left, right, and center stage during The Idea of You. In the first trailer alone, we get to see him performing alongside August Moon on Coachella's main stage, as well as serenading Solène with a piano inside her fancy Los Angeles gallery. The trailer also uses "Dance Before We Walk," the debut single from the film's soundtrack, in the trailer, which will be officially out today, March 6, to coincide with the trailer's unveiling.
Elsewhere in the trailer, we get a taste of Solène and Hayes's jet-setting romance, which involves private planes, bike rides, beaches, and concerts galore, before things turn south with their first tabloid scandal. All in all, The Idea of You seems to have a bit of everything: a fictional boyband to rival 4*Town, globe-trotting, parenting, and, above all, a whole lot of smooching.

Aside from Hathaway and Galitzine in the leading roles, The Idea of You will also star Ella Rubin, Reid Scott, and Annie Mumolo, among others. According to IMDB, the film will also feature a cameo from Irish late-night host Graham Norton as himself. Hathaway also serves as one of the main producers for the title.
Prime Video has been stepping up its rom-com game as of late; first came Red, White & Royal Blue (also with Nicholas Galitzine in a leading role), then Upgraded, and now it's almost time for The Idea of You. As confirmed by the streamer, The Idea of You will be released globally on Prime Video on May 2, 2024, so mark your calendars accordingly if you do not want to miss out on any of the action.
