Lionsgate, the studio that brought us the Twilight film saga and The Hunger Games, is expanding its YA repertoire with a TV adaptation of The Inheritance Games book series by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
The Inheritance Games, whose rights were previously reportedly acquired by Amazon, has moved on to Lionsgate, with Temple Hill Entertainment (The Twilight Saga, The Maze Runner, The Fault in Our Stars) set to produce a new scripted series based on Barnes's original oeuvre, which has reportedly sold more than six million copies of the series worldwide.

What is The Inheritance Games about?
The Inheritance Games is a bestselling young adult novel series written by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. The series, which featured TK's main books and TK's spin-offs, centers around a teenager named Avery Kylie Grambs who unexpectedly inherits the fortune of the Hawthorne family.
A small logline obtained by Deadline about the scripted series is as follows: “Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why – or even who Tobias Hawthorne is.”

Jennifer Lynn Barnes published the first book in the series, The Inheritance Games, in 2020. She has then expanded the series with The Hawthorne Legacy (2021), The Final Gambit (2022), The Brothers Hawthorne (2023), Games Untold (2024), The Grandest Game (2024), Glorious Rivals, and The Same Backward as Forward (2025).
