If like us, you are still thinking about Wizards of Waverly Place even though the series ended a decade ago, TikTok might have found the perfect account for you.
We all know the social app is rife with beauty hacks and product recommendations. It has also become the place to go to spot celebrity doppelgängers. But now, TikTok is taking it a step further by finding a person that somehow is a real-life Alex Russo.
On September 15, TikToker Alexis Nido-Russo took to her profile to share a video in which she realizes her cosmic connection with the beloved Disney Channel series. In the video, Alexis recounts how a bank teller pointed out she had the same name as Selena Gomez’s character on Wizards of Waverly Place.
Real-life Alex, who admits to never watching the show, is taken aback a normal amount by the coincidence. However, when the teller asks if her dad owns a sub shop and her answer is yes and whether or not she has siblings and she replies saying she only has brothers, that’s when things get eerie. “Now, I’m thinking, 'Was this show based on me?’”

Since it was posted, Alexis’s first video has amassed over three million views and over half a million likes. There are also plenty of comments, one belonging to Todd J. Greenwald, who just so happened to be the series’s creator, writer, and executive producer.
“Since I created it…. I have a confession. Lol,” Greenwald commented under the video, likely not referencing the Pussycat Dolls song, but since we are throwing things back, why not read it to that tune? The comment, of course, made it to Alexis’s radar, who then claimed the mystery was solved.

But the real-life Alex Russo saga did not end there. Alexis went on to watch the series for research and ended up doing a part two and three. “Let me just tell you, everything is not as it seems,” Alexis starts part two, referencing the series’s fantastic theme song.
“The parallels between her life and mine are crazy. Truthfully, I don't think it is that weird that we have the same name. That’s not that crazy,” she continues, “but there are so many other things that are similar between Disney Alex Russo and me, and my real life, that made me think this character was definitely based off of me.”
Similarities include: ethnicity, brothers’ initials, younger brother’s pet, similar best friends, a shared NYC neighborhood, and the list goes on. (I mean, she even later found out her uncle’s name is the same as her now onscreen counterpart's.)

Alexis even went on to “confront” her father about the coincidences. “Is it just me or does my dad seem like he knows more than he’s revealing?!” Alexis wrote in her caption. I mean, even if we are talking about magic, evidence speaks for itself…
