If you’re on the beauty side of TikTok, you’ve probably seen the new “I'm Cold” makeup trend that’s been going around. While some creators have called it the frostbitten look, makeup artist Zoe Kim Kenealy was actually the one who first did the look and coined the name as the “I’m Cold” makeup look. You may also know her as the mastermind behind the crying makeup trend, which was inspired by the glow that comes after one cries.
In her original video, she says the “I’m Cold” makeup is one of those looks that are meant to invoke a familiar feeling. As the winter inches closer and the weather becomes colder, this is a fun way to incorporate more blush into your everyday makeup look and walk around like you’re the main character of your all-time favorite holiday movie.

The “#imcoldmakeup” tag has thousands of videos and has garnered almost 15 million views since Kenealy started the trend back in October.
This is a fun look for blush lovers of all skin tones. You are able to personalize your version of the trend with one, or all, the blushes in your collection – the key comes from layering and creating that perfect scarlet flush that makes you look like you live within a snowglobe.
Kenealy says the base of your makeup should be matte which reflects the way your skin acts in the winter when it naturally becomes drier. The magic comes when you add in the colors. She layers two different shades of blush pretty heavily on her face, a rusty orange and a soft pink. But she doesn’t only apply it on her cheeks, she puts it around the outline of her top lip and on her nose to create a slight effect of the redness that builds in those areas when you go outside on a chilly day.
The trend is so versatile and gives a crimson glow that photographs beautifully, especially paired with a cozy scarf or an autumn overcoat. Creators and makeup artists across TikTok have been taking their creative liberties with their own versions, using different shades of blush and suggesting alternate shades that suit a variety of skin tones. Some people have even experimented with different mediums of blush with cream, liquid, and powder products all creating a different finish, creating their perfect version of a holiday movie look.
