If you happened to be watching the vice presidential debate on October 1, you might have noticed Tim Walz was wearing an interesting accessory on his wrist. No, I’m not talking about the watch. I’m talking about the colorful beaded bracelets on his other wrist—which we can now confirm were, in fact, friendship bracelets. And they were given to him by one of his very favorite people.
On X, after Swifties for Kamala clocked the friendship bracelets, writing, “[Tim Walz] wore friendship bracelets on the debate stage and we're trying to play it cool with the best of them,” Walz himself quote-tweeted the post. “Nothing is more important in my life than being a dad,” he wrote, adding that the piece of jewelry was a gift from his daughter. “Grateful to Hope for the lucky charm before the debate last night.”

As soon as Taylor Swift endorsed the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz presidential ticket on September 10, the campaign began selling Harris-Walz friendship bracelets on their site. One of the friendship bracelets Walz was wearing looks like it could be some of the official campaign merch, but the other, more colorful friendship bracelet looks more like something his daughter, Hope Walz, might have made.
Either way, that’s another point for the Swifties.
