Timothée Chalamet's new Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, is set in the 1960s as Dylan moves to New York City and finds his sound, but the actor was dressed more for the ‘80s on the red carpet. But don’t worry! His costar, Elle Fanning, who plays love interest Sylvie, was definitely giving ‘60s with her swingin’ premiere look.
Timothée Chalamet ditched the suede jackets and newsboy caps he wore as Dylan in the movie in favor of a sleek black leather jacket atop a gray collared shirt buttoned all the way to the top, plus slim-fitting black pants and black boots. A handful of pins of the musician gave the jacket some pizzazz, and a pair of sunglasses with “Bob Dylan” written on the lenses was tucked into the lapel pocket. Chalamet wore his hair parted in the middle and is currently rocking a short mustache. Does it not look like he stepped right out of the mid-'80s?
Ella Fanning, for her part, would have been right at home in 1965. She wore her blonde hair teased up and pinned half back, with the ends flipped out and under for a swingy silhouette with tons of movement. Her dress was timeless: a white custom Gucci column gown with a train hanging from glittering silver spaghetti straps.
Though the dress was prim and proper from the front, it was actually backless. If Chalamet was channeling the ‘80s with his leather-centric look, Fanning's vibe was more “1960s glamour girl out for a night on the town.”
A Complete Unknown hits theaters on December 25, which means we've probably got a few more red carpets to look forward to from Chalamet and Fanning. Which decades will they channel next?
