It appears that K-pop idols are not the only celebrities hiding new hairstyles. Cue: Timothée Chalamet finding another use for his beloved scarves, which has fans thinking the actor might have undergone a major hair transformation.

If you are on Timmy’s internet and you have been very online for the last month, you might have come across a flurry of speculation claiming the star has shaved his head, but is it true? And if it is, what does it mean? Below, we break it all down.

When did the speculation that Timothée Chalamet had shaved his head start?

Fans began speculating that Timothée Chalamet could have gotten a buzzcut when new pictures of the actor spending time with girlfriend Kylie Jenner and her sister Kendall at a beach in Saint-Tropez were released.

In the pictures, which you can see here, Timothée does indeed appear to have gotten a new haircut, as the hair on his nape area is considerably shorter than it was in the past month, prompting many to think it might have been freshly buzzed. “OMG BUZZ CUT!!??,” one fan pointed out on X, with plenty of others following suit.

On August 30, 2025, new photos emerged of Chalamet attending a Chelsea versus Fulham football match at Stamford Bridge stadium in London, England, with a visibly new do. In most of the photos, Timmy has his hood up and is wearing a camo hat and sunglasses. But in a few pictures, his hood is down, and you can clearly see no hair where his previously wavy locks once were.

The reason why we can’t make out whether Chalamet might have gotten a full buzzcut or some other hairstyle that features a neck fade (like he was rocking back in March at the Oscars, as you can see above) is because the star hid the presumably new look under a navy Nike cap and a not-suspicious-at-all green paisley bandana tied around his head grandma-style — or, to be specific, “italian grandmother chic” style, as another fan noted.

Given the level of secrecy — what with the bandana and all — fans have begun to wonder if the reason for the makeover is more than just a personal preference since Chalamet is expected to start filming Dune: Part Three imminently in Budapest, where costar Zendaya has already been spotted.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three is slated for a December 2026 release. The upcoming film is based on Frank Herbert’s 1996 novel Dune: Messiah, the second book in the author’s six-book series. The film will feature a ten-year time jump from the events of Dune: Part Two, so maybe the reason behind the change is to make the passing of time more explicit. Regardless, Paul Atreides does not explicitly debut a new look in the book, but given that filming is set to begin soon, it appears that this is the look Chalamet will be rocking when we return to Arrakis — whether it is a full-on buzzcut or a low-tapered fade remains to be seen.

Also, yes, the mustache is now gone as well.
