Timothée Chalamet Addresses Viral Lily-Rose Depp PDA Photo

“Do you think I'd want to look like that in front of all of you?!”

When Timothée Chalamet vacationed with Lily-Rose Depp in Italy last summer, he hardly thought that they would soon become the talk of the internet. But thanks to one kiss, a boat, and a series of paparazzi photos, the former couple soon had social media buzzing nonstop about their PDA. And while Timothée may be used to being in the limelight, he (understandably!) wasn’t exactly a fan of his makeout sesh becoming the trending topic of the day.

In an interview with GQ, the Little Women star opened up about the kiss seen ‘round the world. “I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life,” Timothée explained, reflecting back on his trip with Lily-Rose. “I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, ‘That was great.’”

But things looked a little different the following day, as he explained further: “And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob? All pale? And then people are like: This is a P.R. stunt. A P.R. stunt?! Do you think I'd want to look like that in front of all of you?!” To be sure, the smooch had everyone talking, and, like most viral moments, it even ended up being turned into a meme. Welp!

Timothée and Lily-Rose were first linked in 2018. They made their red carpet debut the following summer, and were seemingly an item until earlier this year, when the actor was described as “currently single” in the May 2020 issue of British Vogue.

All of this just goes to show, even the biggest celebs — with award-winning hair, no less — can feel awkward and embarrassed by a photo, just like the rest of us. Timothée might not be able to untag himself from that viral moment, but at least he’s able to look back and laugh. We all should take note!
