Tom Holland and Zendaya’s relationship is one for the books. Long before they became a romantic item, the two stars were constantly linked. But the genesis of their relationship has remained private until now… kind of. In a new interview with Buzzfeed, Tom Holland got a bit up close and personal and explained exactly how he bagged Zendaya, despite his lack of “rizz.”
Speaking to the publication, Holland admitted that unlike his brother Paddy, who has “ultimate rizz,” he has “no rizz whatsoever.” So how did she manage to get together with one of the most striking and talented people in the world? “Long game,” the star confessed.
“I need you to fall in love with me for it to work,” Holland explained to Buzzfeed. “Probably making a movie with each other. It definitely helps when the characters you are playing are falling in love with one another. You can sort of blur the lines a little bit. That’s kind of where my rizz is at.” We see, we see.

While Holland’s points are fair game, it probably also helps if you are each other’s celebrity crush. ICYMI: Tom Holland not-so-jokingly confessed Zendaya was his first-ever celebrity crush back in 2017 — yes, that’s six whole years ago, friends, when the pair were still promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming, so long game indeed. He passed it off as a joke then, backtracking and namechecking Jennifer Anniston instead, but his new interview with Buzzfeed proves otherwise. When asked who his childhood celebrity crush was, Holland didn't even take a millisecond to blurt out: “Zendaya. Easy.”
As if that weren't enough, Zendaya essentially reciprocated the feeling in an interview with Dune costar Timothée Chalamet back in 2021. She didn’t outright admit it, but her reaction to Timmy’s joke says it all.
Speaking of Timothée Chalamet, the Wonka actor seems to have gotten very close to both Zendaya and Holland in recent years. We've seen him hang out with Zendaya even outside of Dune promotions, and it seems like he's also built a very special relationship with Holland as a result. “We’re obviously very often part of the same conversation,” Holland recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “I admire him. I really like him as a friend. And he’s a good ally to have in a business that’s pretty cutthroat.” (Lest we forget that time Zendaya and Holland joked about casting Chalamet as a Marvel Villain. Still waiting for that to happen, BTW.)
But back to the rizz convo. Though neither Holland nor Zendaya has openly defined the nature of their relationship — nor do they need to — it’s pretty clear that the two have been together for a while. They constantly reference each other in interviews, dedicate their very-rare social interactions to each other, and have been spotted out and about across the world together. I mean, they even wore personalized jerseys with each other’s names and birth years to a hockey game. However, in case there were any doubts, Holland used his “rizz” tirade to confirm he is indeed “locked up” and chuffed about it. “I’m happy and in love, so I've got no need for rizz,” Holland concluded. Excuse me, while I go swoon.
