Tom Holland has been pretty honest about how much his involvement in The Crowded Room has affected his personal life, opening up about how the experience helped change his perception of mental health and even inspired a year-long acting break. However, there's one rather unexpected aspect of his character Danny Sullivan that also affected his relationship with Zendaya: His hair.
In a new interview with RadioTimes.com promoting his new Apple TV+ show, Tom Holland opened up about his rather peculiar look while filming the show, which is set in the '70s. Since images of the set first arose back in April 2022, fans got a glimpse of how much different Holland would look for the project. But clothes aside, the star also had to undergo a complete capillary transformation, dyeing his naturally auburn hair dark and rocking a mullet-esque shaggy bob with bangs for 10 months, which he didn't particularly enjoy.
"I don't like my hair being that dark," Holland admitted. "I really like how my hair is like my mum's, kind of red. Yeah, it was tough. That was a part of the show that I don't miss for sure." And Zendaya apparently didn't like it either. "Bless Zendaya, she had a lot to put up with, with me looking like that for 10 months. It was rough," the actor added, admitting that, for the first time, he had a hard time disassociating from a character after filming wrapped.

"In my career, I've always felt like I've been very good at leaving work at work, and for the first time with The Crowded Room, it really did start bleeding into my personal life," he shared on a more serious note. "I would come home from work, and I would see myself in the mirror, and I would see him. So it did take a while to figure out how to put him to bed and wake Tom up and get on with my life and be myself. But I figured it out and was very happy and healthy."
Since he spent 10 months with the character — and the haircut — "day in and day out," it's understandable that Holland found it extra hard to switch off. "I really did find myself kind of morphing with him in certain moments," he added. "And obviously, I had that crazy hairstyle." We are happy he's at least free of the haircut now!
