If you are chronically online, you might have come across an influx of pictures of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in party mode all over social media over the past 24 hours. Some claimed it was a party in honor of Swift's 35th birthday, which was on December 13, exactly when the party took place. Some claimed it was a Kansas City Chiefs. Some even believed it was an engagement party. But the truth is it was a private party Kelce put together to honor the end of Swift's monumental Eras Tour.
According to information shared by sources close to the couple to Vanity Fair, Kelce gathered Swift's friends and family in Kansas to celebrate the tour wrapping successfully — because, yeah, it was no small feat. Swift wrapped up the Eras Tour in Vancouver on December 8 after almost 2 years on the road and a whooping 149 shows.
The dress code for the party was Taylor Swift and the theme was, well, Eras Tour. Invitees, which included the Haim sisters, the Mahomes, Creed Humphrey, Lyndsay Bell, and Jerrod Carmichael, among many others, arrived wearing a recreation of their favorite Eras Tour look.
Kelce opted to dust out the same look he wore to join Swift onstage at one of her Wembley stops in London this past June — and he was not the only one. His Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes also put his own twist on the look. Mahomes' wife, Brittany, on the other hand, channeled her best Fearless era in a fringed minidress and sparkly cowboy boots. Swift, the lady of the hour, opted for an LBD by Balmain, which she paired with a red lippie, as usual.
Decor- and props-wise, there were also multiple nods to Swift's eras with snake references in honor of reputation and even beaded friendship and light-up bracelets being handed out. Kelce also paid homage to one of the sweetest moments of the Eras Tour by giving Swift her own “22” hat in the middle of the party, as she did with fans during the concerts. (You can see pictures from the night here and here.)
The Eras Tour might have been historic for Swift as an artist, but it also holds a special place for Swift and Kelce as a couple, who met because of the tour. In the summer of 2023, Kelce attended Swift's tour stop in Kansas with the Mahomes and tried to give his phone to Swift through a friendship bracelet but failed to do so.
Kelce lamented his failed attempt on his and his brother Jason's New Heights podcast, and Swift caught wind of it. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift said in an interview with Time. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for because we got to get to know each other.”
News of Kelce throwing the adorable party for Swift comes as engagement rumors are at an all-time high, with fans even theorizing that Swift might have been donning an engagement ring during the party that was later edited out of the pics. Then again, that's all speculation.
