Tyla's first Met Gala appearance is one to remember. The singer stepped out at the 2024 Met Gala wearing a Balmain gown that was literally sculpted to her body. In a red carpet interview she said it was representing the sands of time, with her body as the hourglass. She really committed to the "Garden of Time" dress code, carrying an hourglass in her hand and sand-like glitter on her shoulders.
She completed her look with a short bob, glowy makeup and a stunning cat eye.
Her look was styled by Katie Qian.
Once she hit the carpet, it was clear that Tyla's dress was molded to her body and not exactly simple to walk in – she was even seen being carried up the steps at one point. Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing then posted a video where he can be seen taking a pair of scissors to the bottom half of the gown and cutting it in half above the knee, presumably, so she could walk around.

While her dress was a moment in time, like sand through an hourglass, her time in the spotlight is certainly just starting. At just 22 years old, the South African singer won her first Grammy award, catapulting her into the mainstream. In March, the up-and-comer released "Tyla" her debut studio album to critical acclaim.
