Vanessa Hudgens is feeling spring ... with a goth twist. The actor stepped out on April 11 in New York for a day of press engagements in a sheer black dress with a surprising floral detail that blended romantic garden glam with a darker edge.
The newly engaged star wore a fully sheer high-necked tank dress embellished with huge white roses on the bodice, hip and hem over a black bralette and matching black bottoms, plus a pair of shiny knee-high pointed toe boots. V tossed an oversized black leather blazer over her shoulders and accessorized with a black bag for a sleek, sophisticated silhouette perfect for the premiere of her new supernatural show Dead Hot: Season of the Witch. The roses give the dress a touch of sweetness despite the all-black and leather of the rest of her 'fit.
Because the dress was so impactful, Vanessa pulled her dark hair back in a tight ponytail. Makeup artist Hung Vanngo gave the star a smoky but not heavy dark brown eye with lots of lush lashes and an overlined neutral lip, plus a pop of pink blush and brushed-up brows — romantic, glamorous and a little bit witchy. In lieu of her usual long stiletto and square-shaped nails, V instead opted for a short squoval milky pink-white.
The sheer trend just won't quit; stars are all about the peekaboo effect both on the red carpet and off. Dua Lipa recently wore a catsuit-gown hybrid in sheer black lace with attached gloves, and Bridgerton star Simone Ashley rocked the look at the British Fashion Council's The Fashion Awards with extra sparkle. Sabrina Carpenter also loves a sheer moment, and donned a black gown with chunky boots for a fun night out with her friends. When in doubt, slip into something sheer and you're instantly celeb-approved.
