“He's a pathetic man-child," says the 20-year-old.

Vivian Wilson, 20, hasn’t exactly been shy about criticizing her father, X owner and SpaceX and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. On Bluesky and Threads, Wilson has gone after Musk’s politics, alleged extramarital relationships, parenting, and his allegiance to Donald Trump, whom he now serves as a senior adviser.

Speaking to Teen Vogue for our March special-issue cover, she insists she isn’t frightened that her estranged dad — the richest man in the world, and one of the most powerful people in the current presidential administration — could retaliate against her. “He's a pathetic man-child. Why would I feel scared of him? Oh, he has so much power. Nah, nah, nah. I don't give a f**k,” Wilson says.

“Why should I be scared of this man?" she continues. "Because he's rich? Oh, no, I'm trembling. Ooh, shivering in my boots here…. I don't give a f**k how much money anyone has. I don't. I really don't. He owns Twitter. Okay. Congratulations.”

Wilson goes on to say, “People thrive off of fear…. I'm not giving anyone that space in my mind. The only thing that gets to live free in my mind is drag queens.”

Wilson tells Teen Vogue that she has been financially independent from her father since 2020, the year she came out as transgender. In a 2022 petition to change her legal name, she wrote that she didn’t “wish to be related to [her] biological father in any way, shape or form.”

While she strongly disagrees with her dad’s politics and worldview, Wilson insists he doesn’t take up too much of her mental energy. “I'll see things about him in the news [and think], That's f**king cringe, I should probably post about this and denounce it," she explains, "which I have done a few times.” But “[other than that], I don't give a f**k about him. I really don't.”
