“XO, Kitty” Outfits from Season 1 Graded by Style, Practicality, and Just Vibes

This story contains spoilers for season one of Netflix's XO, Kitty.

After much anticipation, XO, Kitty is finally here! The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spinoff series takes after the films, with lovable characters, heart-wrenching romance, picturesque cinematography, and, of course, plenty of outfits. Lara Jean’s unique style seems to be a genetic thing because Kitty’s sense of fashion also steals the show on XO, Kitty at times. And she isn’t the only one. Dae, Q, Min Ho, Yuri, and even Madison turned the hallways of KISS (that’s Korean International School of Seoul for those who haven’t watched yet) into their own personal runways.

So, we decided to round up some of the most iconic looks from XO, Kitty, and grade them. Don’t worry though! We won’t be as harsh as Professor Lee. But we will evaluate them based on wearability, styling, and overall vibes. Scroll on to see if your favorite character passed the test.

Our very first look is the perfect re-introduction to grown up Kitty. Lounging in the pool, she’s wearing a Triangl-esque bikini (as a nod back to the OG 2018 movie perhaps?) in a light blue hue with a purple and neon green trim that matches her sunglasses. She’s still wearing her signature bold colors and fun accessories like in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, but it’s a little more cohesive now.

Kitty swapped her fun colorful swimsuit for a serious black turtleneck to present her plea to go to Korea to her dad, Dan Covey, and his wife, Trina. She paired the simple top with jeans, but missed the opportunity to throw on wire-framed circular glasses and do a full-on Steve Jobs cosplay. Regardless, it seems to have worked because they said yes.

When a character gets their introduction set to SEVENTEEN’s “Hot,” you know they are going to be, well, hot. In Min Ho’s case, however, the styling ruined the illusion. While there’s no denying that he’d probably look good no matter what clothes he wears, this ‘fit falls a bit short. On paper, you can’t go wrong with a blazer but here are too many textures and motifs at play here — the knitted vest, the embroidered collar… Sometimes less is more. (Also who wears this many layers for a 10+ hour flight even if they are flying business?)

This outfit is super cute but not exactly what comes to mind for travel. The layers are super practical since it can get hot and cold pretty easily. But, a flight from Portland to Seoul is pretty long. Did Kitty wear jeans that whole time?

This Barbie is an heiress. From the very first moment we see her, Yuri is sporting her signature color: pink! It’s only fitting that her first look is a bright Barbie pink, especially for an equally trendy coordinated set. The denim jacket with tweed lining is the perfect look for a young Gen Z nepo baby.

This sequined puff-sleeve dress outfit was kind of like Kitty’s night. There was just too much happening all at once. We fear the bold colors, puffy mesh sleeves, and glittering bodice only brought more attention to Kitty when the night’s events would have probably been less brutal in a more low-key look. Imagine picking cupcake out of these sequins.

While Kitty surely shined brighter here, Yuri’s look was more cohesive. She stuck to her signature color, but with a bolder pink hue, a strapless bodycon silhouette, and mesh sleeves. She opted for a black choker necklace which matched Dae’s all-black attire.

This was another one of Kitty’s (almost) travel outfits. These layers are cute but not super practical, and the crop top is a bold choice. The biggest red flag here though is again the pants, and this time they’re leather too. It seems Kitty subconsciously knew she wasn’t leaving Seoul just yet.

This ended up like most group projects; awkward. Nothing says damage control like prim and proper outfits. For this impromptu press briefing, the team cleaned up pretty nice and whipped up some decent outfits. Principal Lim kept it simple with a teal a-line dress, Yuri leaned into her more youthful style with a lace tiered dress, and the star of the show, Dae wore a dashing suit. Is it all enough to make me forget about the lettuce incident? No. Probably not.

You can always count on Min Ho to serve a look, even if it’s simple. Our favorite snarky sidekick (or probably in his eyes, a leading man) pairs his muscle tee black shirt with iridescent blue sunglasses and a deep royal blue button up jacket.

Another day, another coordinated pink set for Yuri. We love a consistent queen. The Win At All Costs jacket is also a fitting addition to the look. The piece from the golf brand exudes wealth and status, but honestly, we wish it came in pink.

Kitty truly repped Americacore here with a henley top, flannel shirt, and denim cut-offs. Dae, on the other hand, kept it simple with a sweatshirt and pants here. Relationships are all about balance right?

Q is KISS’s resident athleisure king, though he knows it’s a party foul (according to Min Ho, at least). So, for Chuseok, he upped his game with a more formal baby blue tracksuit instead of his typical sweats. It’s comfortable and cool, while maintaining his own personal style. But it would have also been nice to see him dress up a bit.

We love a revenge dress. Plus, the new straightened hair style? Kitty was not holding back. She still kept it true to herself with her accessories and signature blue nail polish. Perfection. (Before you come for us — yes, yes, Dae’s 'fit is cute, but this is Kitty’s moment!).

Madison is a fashion eclectic that loves the chase and her outfits are just as outlandish and forward as she is. She’s made it very clear from day one her obsession is Min Ho (and we don’t necessarily blame her). Here, she’s wearing a furry off the shoulder top with a silver mini bag and colorful dropdown earrings. She might not always catch Min Ho’s eye, but her fashion sense surely stands out.

One thing about Yuri is she’s loyal, whether to her partner or her favorite color. Even for this aluminum-esque metallic dress, she opted for a slight pink tinge. The look was not necessarily what you’d expect from a DJ, but this nepo baby wasn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and get to work.

Our favorite unlikely duo is back together, this time stuck in detention. Madison once again sticking heavy to her American roots wears a short-sleeved white t-shirt with a spaghetti strapped flower shirt on top. She also has some large dangle flower earrings to match. Min Ho, always looking very suave, has on a beige button down jacket with floral print detailing along the forearms and shoulder blades. Underneath, he wears a simple white T-shirt.

Q is again in Adidas, looking like he’s ready to drop everything and run a 5K at any given moment as per usual. Florian looks very European. Both outfits are very on brand for these characters.

There is nothing like a staged couple scene in the middle of campus. Dae, although charming, kept it very simple for this big paparazzi moment. We wish he would’ve committed to stardom by wearing something that stands out a little more. Queen Bee (a.k.a. Yuri) wore some boyfriend style black jeans with an off the shoulder pink puff blouse. While they’re both wearing black pants, this couple just isn’t in fashion sync.

Ah, a school overnight trip…what a glorious feeling! We all know that when you are going away with your classmates you have to prioritize looks, even if that means sacrificing a bit of comfort — there’s always time to get comfy later. It-girl Yuri understood the assignment and opted for a duochrome look combining her trademark pink and white. Though one might assume tooth hound print and strips would clash, she makes them work with ease with this mini skirt and crop top combo. Comfy for a bus ride? Probably not, but who cares when you look this good? Madison on the other hand, prioritized comfort with a pair of dungarees and an off the shoulder top. While it might be comfy — providing the dunagrees fit to perfection — it feels a bit bland. Her space buns, on the other hand, are 10/10.

I am once again asking how Kitty goes through long-haul flights in jeans. Regardless, she looks all grown-up in this distressed denim and leather coat look. The pops of yellow do show her fun, child-like charm as well. (Principal Lim's blazer and maxi skirt set is also power move.)
