Small spoilers ahead for XO, Kitty season 2, now streaming on Netflix.
XO, Kitty season 2 is here, and Kitty is back with even more drama somehow. Kind of impressive! Still, amid all the crushes, relationships, betrayals, clashes, and general chaos, Kitty and the other beloved characters managed to brush up on their style. When they’re not wearing their preppy uniforms, which are pretty cute themselves, the students of KISS get to show off more of their unique personalities with their outfits.
While season 1 saw academics take the forefront as Kitty struggled to keep up, season 2 was all about love. Report cards didn’t seem to be of much importance, but this is still a school, after all! Perhaps to give us all a little reminder, we decided to take a comprehensive look at this season’s most notable outfits and grade them. We scored a handful of XO, Kitty season 2 outfits based on wearability, affordability, styling, and overall grade. And yes, there will be group projects!
1. Kitty’s Back-to-School Outfit
Kitty herself made it clear that she meant business this year and wore this outfit to prove it. Nothing says uncovering family secrets like a blazer. The Vivienne Westwood-esque plaid shirt (that’s actually Ganni) and pleated skirt underneath gave her true intentions away, though. We do love an outfit that can go from study mode to party more. We would have loved it just a bit more if it was a dress or the skirt was brown too for cohesion's sake, but cohesion isn’t really Chaos Queen’s thing.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A
2. Stella’s Intro
There’s a lot going on here, which is true to Stella’s character and story. We love a T-shirt under spaghetti straps moment, but a cardigan layered over is kind of besides the purpose, right?
Wearability: 7/10
Styling: 7/10
Vibes: 7/10
Overall Grade: C
3. Yuri and Juliana’s Dorm Lounging
Some couples have matching or coordinated outfits, but Yuri and Juliana gave a masterclass in personal style. Yuri’s look is preppy and fun, with a unique way to include a pop of color. On the flip side, Juliana leaned into color with a bright neon green sheer top, but her signature layered necklaces were what really made the look.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 9/10
Overall Grade: A
4. Praveena’s First Day of Classes
Praveena’s intro outfit is right on brand. It’s effortlessly casual but still very cool. A hoodie layered with a trench and paired with some headphones and hoops doesn’t seem like much until the look is carried with confidence.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 10/10
Vibes: 100/10
Overall Grade: A+
5. Dae and Min Ho’s Back-to-School Outfits
Maybe we shouldn’t read into things, but Dae and Min Ho’s outfits seemed to subtly reflect Kitty’s. Dae was also wearing plaid, and Min Ho wore a similar brown jacket. Even though they’re supposed to be moving on, their outfits make it seem like they just can’t help it. Simple yet powerful.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 8/10
Vibes: 8/10
Overall Grade: B+
6. The Back Together BBQ
Why have coordination when you can have chaos? That seems to be this crew’s motto, and outfits are no exception. It looks like everyone was on a different wavelength here. Yuri and Juliana were in their grunge era. Dae, Min Ho, and Kitty were taking the academia aesthetic very seriously. Q had a one-track mind that was actually on track. Eunice and Stella stood out in bold colors.
Wearability: 9/10
Styling: 7/10
Vibes: 7/10
Overall Grade: C+
7. Juliana, Yuri, and Kitty’s Club Looks
Here, Juliana and Yuri showed that they can also do a couple’s look, but in a super subtle way. They both opted for layered dark-colored looks with silver and gray accents. Kitty, who was on a date of her own, went with a mesh shirt in a bold print that added some color to the ensemble.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 9/10
Overall Grade: A
8. Stella and Min Ho’s Coordinated Outfits
Sometimes, subtle foreshadowing is matching outfits. Amid the drama, you might have missed it, but Stella and Min Ho were both wearing preppy academia-style sweaters over button-up tops here. Stella even added a bright red shearling-lined coat.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 9/10
Overall Grade: A
9. Kitty and Min Ho’s Undercover Uniforms
Who said all-black had to be boring? Not Kitty and Min Ho. Kitty opted for a cute crop top and chic leather sweeper with trendy rectangle sunglasses. Min Ho experimented with accessories, including a beanie and fingerless gloves, which — we’d have to agree with Kitty — were a kind of questionable choice.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A
10 Kitty’s Detective Look
Is that a Get a Clue reference? Finally managing to sneak her way to success, Kitty donned a Y2K look, complete with a red jacket like Lindsey Lohan’s teen detective character in the 2002 Disney movie.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 10/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A+
11. Yuri’s Detective and Date Night Outfit
Yuri said she could have the best of both worlds by opting for a sleek bodycon silhouette for sleuthing around Seoul in search of a VCR player with Kitty and a fun print for date night (in vain, sadly) with Juliana.
Wearability: 9/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 9/10
Overall Grade: A-
12. Praveena’s Take on Old Money
Praveena’s faux fur coat is luxe to the eye, but the bandana top gives it a little kick.
Wearability: 9/10
Styling: 9/10
Vibes: 9/10
Overall Grade: A-
13. Dae’s Layered Festival Look
Dae is nothing if not practical. This triple-layered look is perfect for this friend group’s nature. You never know if you need a raincoat, shacket, or hoodie, so just bring them all!
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 10/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A+
14. Heading to the Slopes
They might be exes, but Min Ho and Madison are the only ones who seem dressed for the occasion. Puffer jackets and vests in bold colors are quintessential skiing essentials. The rest left much to be desired.
Wearability: 5/10
Styling: 5/10
Vibes: 5/10
Overall Grade: D
15. Cabin Lounging Outfits
This scene was so chaotic we didn’t even notice it at first, but yet again, everyone looks like they’re dressed for different occasions. Perhaps more cohesive looks are the first step in becoming a more harmonious friend group.
Wearability: 5/10
Styling: 5/10
Vibes: 5/10
Overall Grade: D
16. Kitty and Min Ho’s Confrontation Look
It probably is best to play it safe when meeting a relative you’ve never seen before due to family fued. Kitty’s blue top (already sold out on Urban Outfitters) is simple yet adorable, and Min Ho’s red shirt and jacket are casual yet prim and proper.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 10/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A+
17. Sports!
The girls were in their Taylor Swift era, bringing style A-game to the bleachers! Each had a designated color and style, making it fun yet cohesive.
Wearability: 10/10
Styling: 10/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A+
18. Dinner at the Moons
Now, we have to give Kitty her flowers because it looks like our girl has been vintage shopping while in Seoul. For dinner at the Moons, our girl opted for a rare Betsey Johnson dress featuring a rope-style colorful pattern of orange, pinks, and yellows, which we have an inkling was sourced from Los Angeles' Worship Vintage.
Wearability: 7/10
Styling: 5/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: B+
19. LBD? More Like LRD!
You can never go wrong with a little red dress, and it looks like Kitty knows it well. Though she went all out with her makeup for the Winter Ball, we would have loved a bolder look!
Wearability: 9/10
Styling: 3/10
Vibes: 5/10
Overall Grade: C-
20. Yuri Goes Punk
Though we are used to seeing Yuri favoring prim and proper outfits, she's a fashion girlie through and through, and we get to see more of her enjoying shopping this season. This particular outfit, a poppier take on punk, stands out for her accessories and piercings, as well as the sparkly mesh top.
Wearability: 8/10
Styling: 10/10
Vibes: 10/10
Overall Grade: A
