Former One Direction bandmates Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson are reuniting for a Netflix documentary that's sure to be an emotional and captivating journey between old friends.
The announcement for the untitled documentary comes almost exactly a year after former One Direction member Liam Payne died when he fell from a three-story window in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31.
The forthcoming three-part Netflix documentary is set to be directed by Nicola Marsh, who also directed Demi Lovato's documentary Child Star, along with Omnivore and Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story. The doc is being produced by Campfire Studios, which was behind Unknown Number: The High School Catfish and America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

What is the documentary about?
The three-part documentary is set to follow Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson as they road trip across America in a spontaneous adventure that will include “reconnection, exploration and a lot of laughter,” according to a statement acquired by Variety. The two former One Direction members are expected to open up in a way that fans rarely see.
“The series is a rare look inside the world of two of the most famous — and most private — men on the planet opening up about life, loss and fatherhood,” Malik and Tomlinson's representatives said.
It's unclear if the documentary will cover the two musicians as they embark on their upcoming solo adventures. Malik is set to start his Las Vegas residency in January 2026, while Tomlinson will be touring in 2026 for his third studio album, How Did I Get Here?
When does it come out?
An official release date has not been set, but it is expected to be available on the streamer in 2026.
Who is in it?
While it's of course confirmed that Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson will both be in the series, One Direction fans are all itching for an appearance from the other former members — Harry Styles and Niall Horan. Unfortunately, neither is expected to make an appearance.
