As one of the most adored celebrities on the internet, Zendaya is used to having her every look and move in public captured on camera. Although she isn't usually one to address internet rumors, on this occasion, Zendaya had time.
On June 12, Zendaya set the record straight after British tabloid The Daily Mail published an article falsely claiming that she was denied entry to a restaurant in Rome because of her outfit. After news spread, Z was quick to share a tongue-in-cheek comeback on her Instagram story, posting a meme in response to the inaccurate claims that read: "Source? I made it up."

The outfit in question was a signature off-duty Zendaya look comprised of a black tube top, low-rise camel chinos with a brown leather belt, a Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama tote, and some black and gold loafers. A perfect laid-back look for an Italian outing.
Darnell Appling, Z's assistant and BFF, quickly came to her defense on Instagram by posting his own story detailing how things went down. "This whole story is a lie," he wrote, explaining that the group left the restaurant because they wanted to try somewhere new. "We walked into the building, realized we [had eaten] there before when we [saw] the stairs... the same stairs Zendaya slipped on last year and posted about. We all wanted to try a new restaurant and went somewhere else to do so."

Darnell clearly doesn't play when it comes to his bestie. The pair share a close friendship, as evidenced by the clips of Zendaya attending his Freaknik-themed birthday bash on June 5, and false claims just won't do.
Aside from the cute couple content and major style inspo that Z blesses us with daily, dropping a meme in the face of idle gossip is just another reason to stan Zendaya. She spoke her truth through humor, and we love her for that.
