Ariana Grande has been steadily adding to her collection of tattoos throughout the years, with everything from butterflies to Pokémon characters decorating her skin. However, when her wedding photos dropped at the end of May, something seemed to be missing from her signature look: a handful of her tattoos were nowhere to be seen.
As noted by Page Six, some fans were quick to notice that a few of Ariana's most recognizable tattoos, including the aforementioned butterflies and Eevee the Pokémon, were missing from her bridal moment. Were they covered up with makeup for the big day? Or is Ari slowly getting some of her tattoos permanently removed?

Her appearance on the iHeart Music Awards only solidified the question, as Ari's arms continued to look bare. Her hand tattoos, and a few others, including a quote on the back of her shoulder and a line drawing of Spirited Away's Chihiro, remained.
So what is the truth about Ariana's tattoos? No one can be sure. The missing body art is relatively new; the butterflies just showed up on her arms at the beginning of 2020 and Eevee made her debut back in early 2019. Tattoo removal is often arduous and can be painful, not to mention time-consuming, so if Ari did indeed have the tattoos in question removed, she would have been working on removal for a while.
Fans were confused about where, exactly, the tattoos had gone to. "I'm starting to think Ariana had those butterfly tattoos removed ... WHERE ARE THEY," tweeted one. "ARIANA IM HAPPY FOR YOU BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BUTTERFLY TATTOO," wrote another. "Someone gotta tell me what miss Ariana used to cover her butterfly tattoos bc ima [sic] need whatever it is at the next family function," joked another.
Ariana hasn't shared any info about what happened to her tats, so we'll be keeping our eyes glued to her social and any public appearances for a re-emergence of Eevee, Chihiro, and the butterflies.
