Jenna Ortega Makes the Corset Trend Business Casual

Out on the town or in the office.

Leave it to Jenna Ortega to give the ever-popular corset trend a cheeky spin. The Wednesday and Scream 6 star has been doing the rounds promoting the New York-set horror film, which means lots of outfit changes — and her latest look takes the corset out of the boudoir and into the boardroom.

Jenna's version of the corset trend is less lingerie-inspired and more structural. The star wore a smoky neutral sage green long-sleeved Arch Bustier Jacket and coordinating Interlock Wool Trousers from Dion Lee for a recent press engagement, pairing the matching set with super shiny, undone waves and peeptoe platform shoes. The corset jacket in question includes a deep portrait neckline to frame Jenna's face, hook-and-eye details in lieu of ribbons or laces and defined corseted cups, plus cutouts at the hem. The pants were perfectly tailored to Jenna's frame for a look that was a bit business casual but totally fashion forward, and we're loving the pale green on the star — a bit of a departure from her black and white red carpet looks. Enrique Melendez, Jenna's longtime stylist, was responsible for the sleek and chic 'fit. The jacket is currently on sale and will run you about $750, while the trousers retail for about $980.

The corset trend shows no signs of slowing down. They were one of the biggest fashion must-haves of 2019, and they've basically held on strong since. Billie Eilish has experimented with the look, as have both Bella and Gigi Hadid. Megan Fox put a sparkly twist on the trend, while Dua Lipa flipped the script and wore hers with front-facing laces. With its fitted silhouette, the corset has proven to be a versatile layering piece or a solo standout. In true Jenna fashion, she rocked the look her way.
